Parent Information & Safeguarding

King Alfred School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at school. All concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as “Designated Child Protection Officers” which make up the ‘Safeguarding Team’ in school.

Here in King Alfred School, the ‘Safeguarding Team’ consists of:

The Designated Safeguarding Lead: Deputy Head – Polly Matthews

Deputy Safeguarding Lead: Suzanne Lawrence

Additional Safeguarding Lead: Stacey Leatherby

If you have any serious concerns about your child or any other pupil at King Alfred School please do not hesitate to contact ANY member of staff, who will know who to contact, or indeed direct you to for the most appropriate advice and help.

SHARE Project -

SHARE wants to improve the mental health and emotional well-being of our young people in Somerset. They want to change our culture by breaking down the stigma of mental health issues, and by helping our young people become more resilient so they are better equipped to understand and manage their emotions and behaviour. SHARE will do this by involving everyone in schools – teaching professionals, young people and parents, volunteers and support staff -  and provide them the tools and resources to help recognise, manage and sustain good mental health and emotional well-being.
