Visit to Somerset Heritage Centre - KAS 60th Anniversary

On Monday, 6th March students from The King Alfred School spent a fascinating day at the Somerset Heritage Centre delving into the school’s past history.  Senior Archivist Esther Hoyle gave an informative talk before showing them around the facility which included a visit to the strong room.

Students looked through lots of documents including council minutes from the 1950s, plans, maps and microfiche newspapers about the beginning of The King Alfred School. Students also had the opportunity to look at Find My Past and Ancestry to look for family members.  Students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to preparing for the School's 60th Anniversary later this year.

We would be pleased to hear from anyone who has any memories, pictures or anything they would like to share about their time at The King Alfred School.  Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The King Alfred School - Results 2016

The King Alfred School is very proud of the achievements of our students who work hard to achieve their results.  During summer 2016  50% of students who attended the King Alfred School achieved 5 GCSEs including English and maths at grade C and above.  We believe that these results can be better and are working hard to improve the outcomes for our students and subsequently our standing in the league tables.  We are very pleased with the results for our 6th form students who achieved strong destinations and good results that they can look back on with pride.

At King Alfred's we are always happy to meet parents and discuss any aspect of school life, please contact the school if you want to have a meeting,

Rory Edwards - Oxford University

We are proud to announce that KAS 2016 sixth form graduate Rory Edwards has gained a place at Oxford University: Rory will go up to St Edmund Hall to read Physics in the autumn. Rory achieved outstanding A level results in the sixth form: A* in Maths and A grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. Rory has also been employed by the school this term as a classroom assistant and he has voluntarily supported science sessions for younger students. Rory is due to leave for Bolivia in February for a few months where he will develop his Spanish while working on an environmental project. Rory was a fine role model for our sixth form students and we wish him all the best.
